Damir is a renowned chef with 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry. After the kitchen career which included Michelin-star ranked restaurants he is excited to be working on this unique concept which unites high-end dining experience and luxury boat tours. He aims to create an unforgettable experience for his guests by making super fresh food while pouring wine from his own vineyard and telling stories about Dubrovnik’s past and present.
Gourmet
We prepare food which is seasonal, locally-grown and sea based. Our food choices depend on what is available at the local market in the port of Gruz where we only choose the freshest produce. We believe that having quality ingredients and letting them speak for themselves is all you need for a great dish. We also take great pride in our bread which is traditional sourdough bread typical of the area. Finally, all this is best enjoyed with a glass of wine from chef’s private estate in the Peljesac peninsula… cheers or as we say it “Živjeli”!
Lopud
One hot summer morning we sailed to the island of Lopud in search of a perfect swimming spot and a place to relax and recharge. When we approached the island, we found ourselves surrounded by small tour boats packed with tourists in a mood for a chat and a joke. After we anchored it seemed as the right time to share some food. As I served lamb chops with my freshly baked bread and cold red wine it just hit me – everyone should be able to experience this. Our small family boat suddenly became a private tour boat, my wine was poured from fine bottles and the food was more complex and refined. Finally, I was both a Captain and a Chef.
The main villages on the island are Donje Celo and Gornje Celo, each situated on opposite sides of the island. The legend has it that two sailors from the island Kolocep were on the Santa Maria ship when Columbus discovered the New World. Depending on the guests’ wishes we can explore some of the busier, larger bays on the island or find a more secluded spot to enjoy the appetizers. No matter which way you choose your Chef and Hostess will make sure you fully indulge all your senses. The cliffs and bays on the outer part of Kolocep provide amazing opportunities for snorkeling. You will be accompanied by an experience diver and your Chef who is always on a lookout for some fresh seafood treat. We continue our tour to the island of Lopud, known to the Romans as Lafodia. In the 15th century Lopud was a regional center of the Republic of Ragusa with a large merchant fleet and a shipyard. Once we decided where to anchor, your private cooking class may commence. Chef Damir brings years of culinary expertise to the table as you prepare a unique main dish together. You will also be able to enjoy the delicious desserts created by a talented pastry chef and Damir’s wife Lucija. The atmosphere and the food served on our sunny deck will surely take you beyond the typical tourist experience. Before the tour begins Damir engages in a casual conversation with his guests in order to fully customize the tour to fit groups’ profile, dietary preferences and wishes. He delivers the experience which is truly authentic, comprehensive and savory; accompanied by stories of Dalmatian way of life, cuisine and wine.
Our hostess will take you on a refreshing tour through the island's lush vegetation and the sights. In the meantime, your Chef will clean the fish and prepare everything for a culinary treat. Our next stop is uninhabited islet of Jakljan which is an attractive anchorage and an unspoiled oasis with crystal blue sea. As we find our “bay for the day“ you may choose to go swimming and snorkeling or you may join your Chef in preparing an authentic appetizer. As you talk over drinks and food you will also learn more about local gastronomy and winemaking on Chef’s private estate in the Peljesac peninsula. The fresh fish will be prepared in a traditional way over a campfire, weather permitting. After the main course we leave Jakljan and head to the most famous sandy beach of the Dubrovnik region – the Sunj Beach. Here you will be served “a dessert to remember” created and prepared by Lucija Tomasic, a famous Croatian pastry chef and Damir’s wife. Finally, we will sail along the outer side of the island of Kolocep known for its many caves, notably the Blue Cave.
You are in for some breathtaking panoramic views of the Walls, the island Lokrum and the Adriatic. You will watch the sunset over Lokrum while enjoying the creative snacks and appetizers prepared by Chef Damir. Island Lokrum holds many legends, one of them being that Richard the Lionheart found a safe harbor in Lokrum bay on his return from the third Crusade. Although king vowed to build a church on land that provided a safe shelter, the citizens of Dubrovnik convinced the king to build the church inside the city walls.
